Un hombre con un fusil de asalto y una pistola tomó rehenes y disparó a mansalva en el bar gay Pulse, en Orlando, matando a unas 50 personas e hiriendo a 53 antes de ser abatido fatalmente por comandos policiales, informó el alcalde de la ciudad. Es el más mortífero ataque a tiros en la historia de Estados Unidos.
Los investigadores señalaron a Omar Saddiqui Mateen como autor del atentado, quien, según informaron, había prometido lealtad a ISIS antes de llevar a cabo la masacre.
